Try this at home: garden sculptures

Psst! There are some artful little creatures hiding in our garden.....

It's time to start planting seedlings and flowers. Why not add some art to the garden too? We made these little guys using a few aluminum sheets, barbecue skewers, scissors and permanent markers. You cut metal squares from disposable aluminum pie/food containers if you can't find sheets at your local craft store. They have lots of options at the dollar store.

Use a wood skewer or the end of a small paintbrush to draw/etch your design into the metal (put a few pieces of paper under your work for padding). The more details the better. Use permanent markers to outline and color the details. They look almost jeweled when the color is layered on the metal. Cut around the design. Poke small holes at the top and bottom of the finished piece and thread the skewer through. Add some sun and place these around your garden.
