Creativity Prompt: Bluebird

I love the illustrations in Bluebird by Lindsey Yankey.  She has captured what it must be like for a bird in a big city using delicate drawings from multiple perspectives. The little bird believes it must find it's friend the wind to help it fly. The search begins....

How can you tell where the wind is? On a large piece if paper draw/paint a scene of birds, or other creatures that might be seeking the wind, a butterfly, a bee? After you've finished, staple the ends together to make a tube, punch a couple holes in the top and add some string. Crepe paper, ribbons or tissue paper glued to the other end of the tube will help you find the wind, just like the bluebird in the story.

Gather supplies, paper, glue stick or stapler, hole punch, string, scissors, pencils, watercolor.
