Holiday Project: Halloween branch

With all of these blustery autumn days blowing things about, you may be lucky enough to come upon the perfect branch in your path. Perfect for what, you ask?

A Halloween themed holiday branch, of course.

Last rays of autumn sun and the Halloween branch.

This tradition started after an inquisitive five year old asked, "Why can't we have a tree to decorate for Easter, like at Christmas."  A brief search generated facts about the German tradition of the Ostereierbaum (Easter Egg Tree) but the five year old being neither German nor likely to take 'no' for an answer invented, The Easter Egg Branch.  Soon, we had a place to hang drawings of small Easter eggs in every color imaginable. We've continued this artful tradition to commemorate several occasions: Winter Solstice, Thanksgiving, Halloween and Valentine's Day. Just imagine little hearts with sweet messages adorning your branch in February.

All you need is a good branch (one that has other little branches to hang things on), a hole punch, some string, a bit of construction paper and a vase.

Stop into Little Loft and help us carry on the tradition during our Open Studio times. Sit down and draw a pumpkin, ghost or ghoulie and add it to our branch!
